Andrea Kirwin
Born and raised in Townsville by an Irish-Australian father and Fijian mother Andrea was blessed with music at an early age as an every day experience. Although culturally streamlined through her teenage years by American gangsta hip hop and r&b, she was introduced to the world of Soul through her singing teacher in Grade 11, who gave her names to research like, Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone. It wasn’t until seeing Clare Bowditch perform live in 2006 in Canberra that Andrea started thinking about possibly performing in front of people. Until then she was content to spend her days studying Arts/law until she met a young man named George at the Front Cafe in Lyneham, Canberra. After forming a happy go lucky musical group  under the name, The Andi and George Band, Andrea went on to  record two albums with the group and performed at some major Australian festivals, such as Womadelaide 09, Woodford 08/09, the Dreaming 08 and 09 and Folk Rhythm and Life 09. After the band dissolved, Andrea moved to the South Coast NSW where she now lives with her partner Claire and their daughter and 2 kelpies and 3 Chooks and 3 Goldfish in Tathra. She is currently focusing on helping children shine through different creative musical projects. At the moment Andrea performs solo and as a duo with her partner Claire, and she is studying a Cert 4 in Community Welfare and hopes to do more work in this field.
